Fothergill is situated within Zimbabwe’s Matusadona National Park and is flanked by Lake Kariba in the north, and two perennial rivers, the Ume and the Sanyati on either side. The nearest airport is in Kariba and can be reached with a 45-minute boat transfer. Fothergill also has a private airstrip that makes it easily accessible and convenient for guests looking to fly in privately. Our reservations team will gladly assist with flight information to/from Fothergill.

Lake Kariba has a generally warm climate with the hottest months falling between September and March. The dry season is between May and October while November to March is warm and rainy.

Fothergill is open year round. Daily activities are planned according to guests’ desires and the weather.
On the plains you can expect to see vast herds of antelope, zebra, buffalo, and elephants, while hippos and crocodiles traverse Kariba’s waters. Lion prides have also been seen roaming the plains and mastering the art of catching crocodiles as they bask on the banks of the lake. The area is also home to a magnificent variety of bird species.
